スティーブン・スピルバーグ監督(75)が、社会現象を巻き起こしたネトフリドラマ「イカゲーム」のキャストを「無名の役者」と述べたことで、ネットユーザーから非難の声が相次いだ。
Deadlineによると、スピルバーグ氏は19日、全米製作者組合賞(PGA Awards)のパネル会議で、「かつて、観客を映画館に動員したのは、国内スターだった。今では、無名の人々がミニシリーズや映画でそれが可能になったというのは、興味深い」と発言。「イカゲームが出てきて、完全に私たちの計算を変えた。ありがとうテッド」と、Netflixの共同CEO兼最高コンテンツ責任者のテッド・サランドス氏に賛辞を送った。
スピルバーグ氏の発言に対し、イカゲームに出演していたイ・ジョンジェやパク・ヘス、コン・ユは、長らく韓国のエンタメ業界で活躍していたとして、アメリカを中心に物事を考えるべきではないなど、非難の声が上がった。
