15日夕方、雷を伴う激しい暴風雨が米北東部を襲った。abcニュースによると、倒木などで少なくとも5人が死亡。ペンシルベニア州、ニューヨーク州、ニュージャージー州、コネチカット州では約50万世帯が雷雨や洪水、ヒョウ、強風雨などの影響により一時停電した。ニューヨーク州のケント(Kent)や、パターソン(Patterson)ではトルネードが発生し、一部のエリアでは、ゴルフボール大のひょうが観測された。
